Biohacking 101

 

 

 

 

 

Biohacking,  A.K.A "Do-it-yourself biology"  is the study or social movement where a person / group studies biology as that of a traditional institution in the interest of making a difference in mankind.  Explained in other words, making yourself a human guinea pig with lots of testing by repeating steps over and over again until you finally have that A-Ha moment! This means that YOU are taking control of YOU!

 

My bio hacking journey starting around 4 years ago after I made the conscious leap to change my life.  I had several stomach issues, attention/focus mind issues , and even some early stages of memory loss at 34 years old!   I wasn't about to identify myself with my conditions.   I began my research searching for "fixes or hacks" to get myself back on track with my health.  I jump started my diet through experimentation with Atkins, Paleo, wheat diet, anti-wheat, then gluten-free options. I had several short term successes with all of them but nothing really stuck permanently and I would bounce right back into my old patterns again." back to my preset mode. " I don't exactly remember the moment that I shifted into self exploration, but I will say the shift occurred as soon as I began listening to my own inner truths.  I am the master of my own destiny.   My destiny is lead through my perception, health, and integrity. I am my own experiment with my feelings as my measuring stick and guide to support my journey.   The biggest lesson that I have learned so far,  is to have an appreciation for truth and listen to my body when it speaks.  I am a truth seeker, not a doctor, I do not claim that any of the "bio hacks" that I am sharing will have the same effect on you.  EVERY human is different and there is no one size fits all.  All of my hacks are modifications of other biohackers and science which I have tailored specifically to me.  I have found that keeping an accurate log of my hacks using a notebook, journal, or iPhone is most beneficial in helping me stay on track with my goals.    As a new bio hacker, it is up to you to take ownership of your own body and empower yourself while following the guidance of others.  My hope is that this jump starts your desire to pursue your own health journey through "biohacking".

This is one of the most powerful and simplest tools to removing body inflammation and pains I have ever used.  There really is no comparison I have found yet.

Muse Headband

I originally used this to monitor my brainwaves for increasing cognitive abilities.  I used it in conjunction with supplement testing, IQ testing and food allergy testing to monitor my compatibility.   Later, I used the software with the headband and was blown away at how quickly I was able to meditate with valuable feedback.  10 mins/day changed my life!!

Ketogenic diet

This diet is easy to maintain and is the perfect science experiment for a "bio hacker".   I lost weight and effectively burned unwanted abdominal fat with minimal effort .  Plus I experimented by constantly measuring my blood sugar, ketones and Ph until I became bionic!! Bonus- IQ points rise!

Modified Keto or Carb cycling

This is a more flexible diet that comes after the ketogenic diet with 30-50 net carbs/day.   The diet consists of 3 days of  higher carb counts alternating with 4 days of keto diet.  This replicates what scientists believe is an ACIENT diet that goes back centuries.
